University Tower Apartments, originally constructed in 1922 as the Sovereign Hotel, is preserved and rehabilitated into 113 apartments for senior living. The building's grand entrance has been restored, bringing a refreshed presence along its streetscape and prominent University Circle location. A new exterior canopy and green roof patio create accessible green spaces, connecting to a landscaped courtyard and the surrounding Rockefeller Park.

Interior renovation of the building includes the creation of new management offices, community spaces, a library, medical office and salon for residents.  Amenities offer residents services and promote activity and interaction throughout the neighborhood building.

University Tower's renovation serves as an anchor for the adjacent Veteran's Administration campus and provides a true sense of place and timelessness within the VA's modern campus facility. City Architecture's role included the preparation of documents and narratives to qualify for a variety of historic tax credits.

“CITY ARCHITECTURE HAS WORKED TO COMPLETE A NUMBER OF HISTORIC RENOVATION PROJECTS, ALWAYS TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE OF QUALITY AND INTEGRITY.”

— Kathleen H. Crowther – President, Cleveland Restoration Society & John Anoliefo – Executive Director, Famicos Foundation
