Renovation Project of the Year- NAIOP Awards of Excellence
The NewBridge Center for Arts and Technology was made possible by the creative adaptive re-use of a former office and warehouse building. Facilities were created for disadvantaged youth to learn life and career skills such as computer technology, digital photography, film and sound editing and ceramic arts.
The facility also includes spaces for post high school classes to provide job skills within the local market, and incorporates computer information technology labs. Medical training is conducted in high-tech labs that offer hands-on experiences for pharmaceutical technicians and phlebotomy programs.
LEED Silver certification (Commercial Interiors program) is achieved through the selection of building materials, recycling of demolition waste and integration of new efficient mechanical systems. NewBridge's success as a community asset is accentuated by its location - providing new learning opportunities within the city's core.
