Renovation of the Year - NAIOP Northern Ohio Chapter
The W.S. Tyler Property is a former industrial complex comprised of twenty-four (24) buildings, which total over a million square feet in building area. Its new life as "Tyler Village" is modeled as a modern village, offering opportunities for collaboration, amenities for tenants and non-traditional "offices" and studios to attract energized and creative businesses.
Tyler has become a "makers" village serving as home to furniture companies, a STEM charter school, design firms, laboratories, manufacturing facilities, homemade soda and beer breweries and other creative endeavors. The tenants are as eclectic as the architecture. Historic forms, punctuated by expansive spaces and large windows, are re-imagined as offices, studios, workshops and more.
Tyler Village's revitalization has brought new activities and economies to the St. Clair Neighborhood and serves as model in adaptive re-use of large urban manufacturing properties.
